Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. (So go) Climb that damn mountain ~ Jack Kerouac

Happiness is hiking with family! Today was my grandson, niece, and my last hike in the hills outside our hometown of Lake Havasu, AZ. After Thanksgiving, we are moving to Apache Junction so my grandson can attend a school for the Deaf in Mesa.

It’s so hard to leave, until you leave…….

Before leaving town, I just had to get in one more hike. I’ve always wanted to visit Buckskin State Park in Parker, AZ and give their trail system a whirl. I was hoping to make it to the abandon mines, but I’ve gotten out of shape since the pandemic, so we chose the Buckskin Loop and Trail to tackle.

It’s the way you ride (walk) the trail that counts ~ Dale Evans

I’m going to miss this girl and her dog, Peanut! This year my niece moved into town and we’ve become hiking partners ~ her and her dog, Peanut and me and my grandson. We’re very similar and have the same “hiker” attitude: wander slowly, admire the view, smell the flowers, and rest when you get tired.

Home, where your feet may leave, but not your heart ~ Unknown (by me)

I’m going to also miss living by the Colorado River and meandering through the Mohave Desert; it’s been my home for the last five years and I’ve loved it here. But, there will be new adventures to come, a new desert (Sonoran) to explore, and new mountains to climb. But best of all, my grandson will get to attend a school where he can be communicated with in his language (ASL) and be able to learn and get an education just like other children.

Hope everyone is doing well. Stay tuned for some new town adventures ~ once I get unpacked and rested, of course, lol.
